It has been announced that dozens of devices including the original OnePlus 1 and Sony Xperia Z3 have stopped connecting to T-Mobile’s network. It has been imposed from January 29th this year. As stated by T-Mobile, this is the result of a network update and the affected devices will not be able to receive a software update for stay connected.
According to the recent source, “As a result of a network update going into place on January 29th, T-Mobile identified a number of older devices, not able to receive a manufacturer software update. Now, these devices will be unable to establish a network connection.” T-Mobile and Metro customers utilizing these older devices will be unable to get all network connectivity if they do not replace their device. Still, it has not been clarified exactly what this network update is. It only clarifies that these older devices can no longer function.
Android Police initially said that it is related to a requirement for devices to support voice over LTE (VoLTE). T-Mobile says that the change is not related to the shutting down of any legacy network or connection.

T-Mobile has already taken action for reportedly informing affected customers of the changes by post on December 18th and started sending SMS messages on December 28th. It has been reported that this decision will also affect Sprint customers with affected devices. T-Mobile subscribers will lose all network connectivity.
